35 days to go and I’m seriously doubting myself.

*headdesk* that didn’t take long for me to need to rip it all out. Thankfully I didn’t get very far along before I realized that no amount of blocking would get it to fit me .

After procrastinating for a month I’m finally getting started on my Katniss cowl. I had planned on getting down to business and starting Wednesday but like usual I put it off a few more days. I have 41 days to finish, I’m not worried about the knitting, it’s the construction that I think I’ll have a bit of trouble with. I’m not always patient (especially with myself) and I’m not sure on the sizing, the patterns all look like they are done for people smaller than me.

I am using a combination of free patterns/tutorials from various youtube videos and the following people -  LollyKnits, Kathatravelling, and Engineeredcreations. I’m going to try and keep track of what I do since I have a habit of ignoring patterns halfway through and doing my own thing. We’ll see if that actually happens. For now, at least I’ve started.

There is also a headband and half a hat done in the same stitch.

What can I say? I’m addicted to it.

A couple of the chunky cowls I recently knit. The wool is nice and soft.

knitting blogs wanted!!

knittincandenza:

reblog this if you are a knitting blog or at least post knitting so I can follow you! I’m going on a knitting rampage tonight and need more blogs!

I needed to make a template so I could figure out sizing. There was some disappointment when I said he couldn’t keep them. I’ll have to make him a pair to make it up to him.

Knitters wanted for penguin pullovers
The Penguin Foundation has a global call out for knitters to make pullovers for penguins in rehab.
Penguins caught in oil spills need the little jumpers to keep warm and to stop them from trying to clean the toxic oil off with their beaks.

If you enjoy knitting as a pass time please please please do this. please.
You can download a PDF with more info here

I made my first mitten tonight! Wooo!

I have one mitt, and I can’t make its mate …thought I had another skein of that yarn  but I remembered too late I used it so it’s a good thing this was a practice mitten. I’m gonna make some adjustments to the pattern and try again.

I just made up the pattern as I went along and they ended up looking like cupcake hats.
